June 11, 2006 Well, the end of spring...and the end of our first year home schooling. I am grateful to say that it was a complete success, and though we had our little challenges along the way, overall both Allyson and I had a lot of fun and learned so much. We also made some great friends within the home school community and at church. So now, we will take a breather for the summer. We do plan on working about an hour a week on her work books, and of course, we'll keep reading. We also want to pick some things to study and learn about. But as far as everyday structured school work, we're going to be relaxing on that quite a bit until fall. Then, I'll be learning how to incorporate a little more preschool learning into our days, since we've decided our budget will be a lot less strained without the expense of preschool again next year. I wanted to give Jenna the experience at this great little preschool just as her sister got to have, so now they both have enjoyed a year there. As for activities...hmmm...I know the dangers of over-scheduling but at least for this first month of June, let's just say we're a little busy. A week each of VBS, swimming lessons for each, two days a week all month, tumbling for Allyson-(oh, and did I mention she wanted a slumber party for her 7th birthday on the last day of this month? Our first!)...but though there's a smattering of other things planned the rest of the summer, at least things slow down a tad and we can have a little time here and there for just relaxing...for me that means getting out the scrapbooking supplies again, reading those good novels, and writing more. What...you mean I still have to clean house? Oh well, I'll try to squeeze that into my summer, too...if I can! ;)
